Note: a "T" in the standard number indicates a recommended (voluntary) standard; once cited in contracts, tender documents, or certification requirements, it becomes binding.

Common mistakes to avoid:

  • The 2023 revision updated Parts 1, 3, and 4; the AC charging interface still uses the 2015 version, and no "GB/T 20234.2-2023" exists.
  • The current version of the DC charging interface is 20234.3-2023; do not carry over the old 2015 version when citing.

Key Points of the 2023 Revision

The 2023 revision responds to the industry's need for 800V high-voltage platforms and the spread of ultra-fast charging. The main changes include:

  1. Higher rated parameters: raises the rated voltage and current limits of the DC charging interface to suit high-voltage ultra-fast charging scenarios.
  2. Stronger safety protection: refines insulation safety, temperature monitoring, mechanical durability, and environmental tolerance requirements to handle high/low temperatures, heat and humidity, and vibration conditions.
  3. New ultra-high-power provisions: Part 3 upgrades the DC fast-charging requirements, and Part 4 establishes a separate high-power DC charging interface system (not interoperable with the Part 3 connector).
  4. Unified inspection rules: standardizes test methods and inspection rules to improve vehicle–charger interoperability.

  1. Verify the year suffix: when citing standard numbers in bids and product documentation, always use the exact year of the current version.
  2. Match the connector type: cite 20234.2 for AC piles and 20234.3 for DC piles; for ultra-fast charging plans, assess the rollout pace of 20234.4 support.
  3. Check vehicle support: the vast majority of DC fast-charging piles follow the GB/T 20234.3 connector; adoption of the new connector system will depend on how quickly vehicle models support it.
