How to Remove Someone in the Find My App: Official Steps

Official Apple Support steps for removing someone from the Find My app on iPhone, covering both the removal request and the confirmation side, plus prerequisites.

一句话总结

Removing someone in Find My requires action on both sides: the requester picks the person under the People tab and taps "Remove This Person", and the other party then receives a notification and taps "Remove" in the Notifications tab to confirm; after that they can no longer see your location.

Prerequisites

  • The person being removed must be signed in to iCloud with their Apple ID and have Find My enabled.
  • Removal can be initiated on iPhone, iPad, Mac or iCloud.com; the steps below use an iPhone.
  • After removal, the other party stops receiving your location; sharing rules follow Apple's official documentation.

Steps for the Requester

  1. Open the Find My app on iPhone and go to the People tab.
  2. Find the person in the list and tap their name to open details.
  3. Scroll down and tap "Remove This Person".
  4. Tap "Remove" again in the confirmation prompt to complete the request.

Steps for the Person Being Removed

  1. The other party receives a "Someone stopped sharing their location" notification.
  2. Open the Find My app and go to the Notifications tab.
  3. Tap "Remove" on the relevant notification to confirm and stop receiving the requester's location.

Notes

  • If the requester cancels before the other party confirms, the removal does not take effect and location sharing continues.
  • Removing someone does not affect the other party's ability to see their own devices in Find My, nor other features such as iMessage.
